Newstead Abbey wedding fair and it's snowing!
Here's our second event, Newstead Abbey wedding Fair...there's a theme running here! Again it was February and this time it snowed the night before! Rachel and I are pretty hardy though so we gave it a go. We managed to get some great pictures from yet another stunning venue. |
No snow today but blimey it's cold!
Another Sunday in March saw us at Spion Kop, near Mansfield for the John Fretwell Centre Wedding Fair. It was a very cold, windy day but we had some fun talking to the guys with the wedding cars outside with us. Heard some great stories from the ex holiday coach drivers! Thanks to the models for the picture. |
Our first food & drink festival. It's sunny...hooray!
At the end of May we attended Letchworth Food & Drink Festival in the town. What a lovely place it is. We stayed over in a hotel as it was a 2 day event. A very funny taxi driver told us it was the first garden city and it also had the first roundabout! You learn something new every day! Oh and we had some new signs made. |
Back in Letchworth with the lovely Jiveswing gang!
The end of June saw us back in Letchworth with the lovely Jiveswing gang for Letchworth Vintage Festival. The weather was so hot! I really don't know how the dancers managed it, but they were brilliant. Thanks to Charlotte, Joseph and all the dancers, singers and musicians for a fantastic weekend. |
Attention! Royal Logistics Corps open day in Cirencester.
The beginning of July saw us head to the Cotswolds and the Royal Logistics Corps Open Day. What a fantastic turnout they had. It was the first year at the Duke of Gloucester Barracks and the organiser John did a great job . The weather was great and the event had a lovely atmosphere. Well done all the corp for your organisation and see you all next year! |
Alex & Zoe tie the knot at Hoar Cross Hall in Staffordshire.
Mid July saw us at the wedding of Alex & Zoe at Hoar Cross Hall, Staffordshire. Wow what an amazing venue...a real hidden gem. A fabulous building in magnificent grounds. The wedding party seemed to be having a great time on the lawn with our selection of Gins and Prosecco. All the guests loved the horsebox and were all having their picture taken next to it. Rachel and I were so busy we didn't get to take any pictures though, so here's one of the hall. |
Jiveswing we love you!
The last Sunday in July saw us again with Charlotte, Joseph and the Jiveswing crowd. Wow! what a fantastic event. The day started with rain and didn't look too promising but by lunchtime the sun was out, crowds were arriving , the music was on and the dancers were off! Rachel and I had queues all afternoon and never saw a thing ...good and bad I guess. Watford loved our selection of 80+ Gins and people were coming back and trying different ones a few times. Thanks also to Helen and Watford Borough Council for supporting this fantastic well attended event. The locals clearly love Jiveswing as do we! See you all next year Watford. |
Our first 1940's event, we met some lovely people. The first week in August saw us attending a 1940's weekend in Market Harborough. The weather was fine and it was really interesting. We had a really interesting chat with Dave from 1940sradio.com ...you learn new stuff every day! There were lots of big boy's toys ( tanks, cars etc), singing and music, WW2 re-enactors, trade stands, vintage fashions and food & drink. We tried out a few new gins as we have started buying from a lot more small producers and the hit of the day was black tomato gin! |
Ladies Day at the races....all I saw was the gin bottles...we had queues all day for our 80+ flavoured gins.
Mid August saw us at Southwell Racecourse for their Ladies Day which was rather entertaning! Around 9000 people converged on the course , mainly groups of ladies dressed up to the nines and out for a good time.....they found us! Our selection of Gins went down a storm and we had queues all day. Every order was different from salted toffee to apple and lavender, you never know what people will order. The day was topped off by Elvis, well a look a likey but he sounded good to me. We all had a blast and can't wait for the next one. |
Party Party!
Early September saw us taking Chin Chin to Lutterworth to help Mark, Jack & Fran celebrate their birthday's with a joint birthday party. It was a fairly last minute booking as they were thinking of providing the bar themselves but realised it would be much easier to get a professional, fun bar in to take care of everything so they could all just relax and enjoy the night. The party was on the cricket field in the village and most of the villagers were invited. There was singing, dancing, food and drink ( they loved our variety of 80+ gins). Everyone had a great time and it went on longer than expected as it was such a good party. I couldn't get " Cotton Eye Joe" out of my head for weeks! Happy birthday to you all and hope to see you all again as we will be the bar for your parties anytime....we had a blast! |
A Tipi Wedding
Again in September we were at the lovely wedding of Alex and Adam on the edge of the Peak District. It was a beautiful setting on a farm , very high up in stunning countryside. They had a huge tipi tent set up with lovely touches inside and out arranged by Alex's sister and friends I believe, they did a great job. It was very tasteful. We provided the welcome drinks to the guests after the ceremony and a few drinks before the food was served. After the picnic food the evening guests arrived and the band started up. The drinks started flowing then with a particular group of young men drinking us dry of spiced rum!(lol) A lovely wedding , with lovely people in a lovely setting. What more could you ask for. |
My Heaven. Working at a cycling event
I was really looking forward to the cycling event we had booked in for late September. I've been through Wetherby before and always thought how nice it looked for a weekend but never stopped there. We had a steady flow of customers all morning as the weather was gorgeous. I went off at 1.30 and left my friend in charge as I wanted to see the cyclists come through. The first 3 went past in the blink of an eye! After the cycling had finished we had crowds arrive on the bar & we had queues for a while for the prosecco and gins. It was a great atmosphere and Wetherby Council and Jackie the organiser of our event did a great job. |
